Picking colors for my next painting.

Picking the colors for my art is always has always been an important part in the creative process . Not only does it set the mood it also it enhances the emotional content and reaches the viewer on a more sub conscious level.
I have been thinking about painting Lazlo, my three year old sun. He is very clear about the thinks he wants, emotional life is an open book, he currently loves pink and he most certainly has his very own sense of fashion.
As I was walking through our garden the other day, I could not help but notices how many pinks and yellows I saw next to each other and I knew that that would be the perfect color scheme for Lazlo's portrait.

Here's Lazlo wearing the latest spring fashion. One of my skirts held up by suspenders with blue ballerina shoes. This outfit works well when you're on a horse ranch, as seen here or at any cocktail party.

Frozen Watermelon Hearts

Today I made some yummy watermelon hearts with the boys.
We liquify the watermelon in the blender,
put it in the freezer waited a few hours (Thank god the boy where in school, so they couldn't ask every 10 minutes if it was done yet)
et voila finally all the waiting was rewarded. Needless to say that about 10 minutes after this photo was taken all the hearts had all vanished. What a great healthy summer snack.

Play Carpet

Here's felt play carpet I made for the boys for easter 3 years ago. Can you find all the hidden easter eggs?

The hanging gardens of Culver City

One time after dropping the kids of at school I noticed this stunning vertical garden that someone created on the corner of La Cienega  and Cullen. So today I stopped by to take some photos. What a smart and beautiful way to keep your wall graffiti free.

Open studio 3

 Almost done.

Liam snaps a photo of me adding the last finishing touches.

He checks it out and wonders: "Mami, why are my teeth golden?" Somehow I had a feeling a few posts below, that that might be an issue for him.

So he tried to fix by brushing the teeth with my brush.

Nooo... don't brush your teeth with that.

And finally it's done. Yay

Nature at work

Nature just does the most amazing art. As I was taking the boys and their friends out to a fun filled adventure in Temescal Canyon I stumbled across this dead tree. I wish I could get one of these bugs to do some of these cool patters for my paintings.
